Wild East is an independent travel blog. We write about Central and Eastern Europe because we love the region – and to keep doing so, the blog has to cover its costs. Here we explain openly how we earn money and what we do not do in return.
In short
- All articles are free, with no paywall.
- We are funded by affiliate links and ads.
- We are not paid for recommendations. Everything we recommend, we chose ourselves.
- Everything we earn money with is labelled.
Affiliate links (*)
Many articles contain links to books, hotels, tours or transport. Some of them are affiliate links, marked with an asterisk (*). Every article with affiliate links also starts with the note “Contains advertising”.
If you buy or book through such a link, the provider pays us a small commission. The price stays the same for you. Among others, we work with Amazon, Booking.com, GetYourGuide and Thalia, partly through affiliate networks such as Awin and CJ. As an Amazon Associate we earn from qualifying purchases.
Whether a provider has an affiliate programme does not decide whether we recommend it. We also link to hotels, museums and restaurants we earn nothing from.
Ads
Our pages show ads delivered automatically by an ad network. They are labelled as ads. We do not pick the individual ads you see.
Supported trips
Occasionally, tourism boards or regions cover actual travel costs such as transport or accommodation. We receive no fee or other payment for this. Such articles carry a “Support” note at the end, naming who supported the trip.
Even then, we alone decide what and how we write. Articles are never submitted for approval beforehand.
Cooperations
Paid cooperations follow clear rules, described on our Cooperations page. Paid content is always clearly labelled as advertising.
